March 12, 1968 Western Union TelegramTo: Macon GA; Turners Plantation Dairies Inc. "Will Sell Useppa Island located Charlotte Harbor Lee County" From: Snow Properties Inc by William A Snow President.

"So you want the short version of how Billy went from taking in laundry to buying Useppa? And why all the painters are painting anything that doesn't move, guys down the south-end are building a landing strip, workers refurbishing the golf course, redoing tennis courts. A new septic system. The pool you guys are here to help install, that's taken much too long to put in already. Or didn't your painter friend tell you that part of the story?"
            They both shake their heads.
"Well, getting a pool built on an island is not an easy task as you know. So Billy hires some guy to bring everything down here on a barge. One thousand dollars to get supplies, cement, equipment and materials on a barge and down here. But the guy Billy hires is a smooth operator. So smooth that he talks Billy into buying a barge rather than renting one. For a mere two thousand, he works out a deal to buy a barge so they can have it when they need to bring other stuff any time from the mainland. Sound good so far?"
            Again they both nod.
"Sure, that sounded like a deal to Billy too, and it was, until he hears that on the way down here the barge sinks in the ICW. So all the equipment is lost and to make matters worse the Coast Guard is fining Billy for every day, day after day, until the barge is removed. On top of that Billy has to start over with a new barge and new equipment to put in a pool that will end up costing twice as much and taking three times as much time. So that's the story of how Billy went from taking in laundry to buying Useppa."
